Tomato Basil Soup

 It's still in the 90's here in Arizona but I got my cookbook out and started sifting through my soup recipes anyway. I love homemade soup!!! For a girl who hates fresh tomatoes, I find it funny that one of my favorite soups is tomato basil. Nordstroms is my all time favorite, with Hagermans (in Draper Utah) second, La Madeleine's third and Paradise Bakery fourth. (Paradise is a little chunky for me but I love the sour cream and chips they put on top). Anyway, here is a Nordstrom recipe that is yummy and you can make it at home in no time flat. Enjoy.

 

How can I help?

For weeks now I have been reading a blog about a couple I have never met. Stephanie And Christian Nielson, a young couple from Arizona were in a terrible plane crash where they were burned very badly. Stephanie's sister has been keeping loved ones and friends informed of the progress of the Nielson's. She is a beautiful writer and I find myself in tears many times after reading her blog. I keep thinking I need to do something to help but I just seem to let all the fund-raisers go by and I do nothing. Well, time to change. This Saturday at Mountain View High School there will be a concert to raise money for the Nielson's recovery and also for the family that lost their father, Doug Kinneard in the crash. I'm looking forward to going to the concert and in some small way help this wonderful family.

 

Best Friends Forever

Go Westwood Go! Yesterday I had a 4 hour lunch with my bff"s from High School. It was so fun and we just picked up where we left off 31 years ago. We do try to get together twice a year now and it has been something I really look forward to. It was extra fun to have Celinda here from Thatcher. Since she has her Masters degree she brings such depth to our conversation. She also taught us something about forks. We were so happy to have Cindy at lunch because she works for a plastic surgeon. She's putting together a group visit to Dr. H. Wink Wink. Then there's Tami, my adventures spilled into college days with her. Now remember Tami, what happened At BYU stayes at BYU.  Julie is our human computer and remembers EVERYTHING. When we are all in nursing homes, Julie will help us remember our names and what we wore last Wednesday. And last but not least Celeste. When I was in High school I would tell my dad that I was going with Celeste and he would always say, "how are her sisters Teleste and Tereste"? My friends are the best and they are wonderful women. They were great examples back in the 70's and even greater examples now.
